ABOUT ME

"Good bye dog face aliens! Good bye dragon people! Stay at peace with each other." The brave astronaut girls climbed back onto the bus seat that was laying on the ground and with their hair splayed out on the pebbled drive and knees pointing to the sky they blasted off to return once more to Earth.

Growing up in the church parsonage had its perks. There was so much room to play because the whole compound became their fantasy backdrop. There was no lack of imagination. Whether they were space ambassadors or brave explorers of the deep jungle (also known as the alley behind the empty lot) or natives of a grassland expanse (said empty lot), LaDonna and her playmates turned every inch of the property into exotic storyscapes.

LaDonna's favorite escape, though, was through a stain glass window with a broken latch. It was her very own secret. She would steal away from the play group, climb through the window into the dark, cool sanctuary and spend time singing to an audience of One. Her love of song and story was birthed in those early years.

She would grow in skill and talent over the years to win contests and scholarships in music and prose, and became a life long learner in the fine arts. Stage performance has been a passion, and found her starring in musicals and plays, traveling with singing groups, performing for live and television audiences, and sharing her joy for worship with congregations across the nation.

She plays several instruments including piano, glockenspiel, flute, tin whistle, ukulele, guitars, and various percussion instruments. Her family jokes that the way to her heart is through a new folk instrument.

She is still pouring out stories and songs, still befriending dragons, and writing strong heroic female protagonists. In the Sisterhood of the Sword Saga, four women launch on a quest to save the kingdom from fierce and wicked foes. The land is founded on the relationship between the king and the bard. The series contains over 10 original songs. The five part saga is nearing completion and will soon go into edits.

Most recently, LaDonna completed Holding Kate Trilolgy, a three part science fiction romance for young adults. The first book-The Torn was launched in the Fall of 2013, followed by The Keepers, and The Source.

Several books are in the works including supernatural, steampunk, and romance genres. So many stories, so little time.

She thrives in the Smoky Mountains with her two kids and works as a RN medical reviewer, vocal coach, and writer. She loves to travel, and research trips to England and the Bahamas in 2013 fueled her well of imagination for a long while. Her latest research adventure took her on a tour of Italy.
