Lesson Portal

Students, check here each week for Homework Assignments by Modual and Lesson Numbers.

Modual One Lesson One

After your assessment, you will be given time to consider the contract and select your regular lesson time slot. The next time you return, wear loose clothing. We will be on the floor, rolling around in slop, and cleaning out sewage...well maybe not literally, but still, comfy dress is best.

Define terms: Legato, Sustained, Diaphragm. (Extra points if you can find the symbol(s) that represents sustained.)

Suggestions: Add a metronome app to your phone or tablet. It will come in handy. I use the free app, Simple Metronome. It does just what it needs to, no fancy features to confuse.

Modual One Lesson Two

Now that we've found that hidden muscle, lets exercise it!

  • Got your stopwatch or app?

  • Deep breath.

  • Perform exercises according to your homework sheet.

  • Label your diagram.

If you bring a candle to lesson 3, you will get a reward!

Modual One Lesson Three

Whew! We didn't have to call the fire department. Yay, us!

  • Keep singing. Get through your song in one breath. If you practice every day, you will make it.

  • Use your candle to find those leaks.

Extra points if you come to lesson four knowing how to direct a 6/8 time signature.

Assessment

After your initial assessment, you will take home your contract and decide if voice lessons are a good match for your goals. Take time to be sure this is something you can commit to. Bring your signed contract(s) and thoughts of what you want to get from vocal coaching (ie. scholarship potential, better control, stage performance...)

Modual One Lesson Four

This week you get to teach me! We are going to review everything we've learned so far to make sure it really sinks in. This week gives us time to work on anything that you may need extra time on.

You can win a Prize if you score a 100% on the review sheet given to you at this lesson.

Modual Two Lesson One

At the end of this lesson, if all goes well, you will know your tessitura and learn exercises to begin expanding that range.

You can win a prize if you can answer how many counts each note on your assignment paper gets if you are in a 4/4 time signature.

Modual Two Lesson Two

Describe the timbre of each voice sample below. If you had to assign a color to each voice what would it be and why?

Modual Two Lesson Three

If you bring your homework excellently completed, you will receive a prize from the treasure box. This week we will discuss a "shaky" matter.  Next week you will have a chance to sing/talk on video. Dress accordingly!

Review and Testimonial: Dress nicely, you will be filmed today! You have completed 2 full moduals. It's time to take a look at what you've learned and the progress you've made. Next week we will start Modual Three, Ear Training, and work on the song we've decided for you to cover.
